We carefully selected each nonprofit in the fund to focus on representing the multitude of experiences within the Caregiving community. Caregiving can take so many forms; across family members, chosen family, friends, colleagues, and our communities. On World Humanitarian Day August 19, the world commemorates humanitarian workers killed and injured in the course of their work, and we honour all aid and health workers who continue, despite the odds, to provide life-saving support and protection to people most in need. This year World Humanitarian Day comes as the world continues to fight the COVID-19 pandemic over recent months. Aid workers are overcoming unprecedented access hurdles to assist people in humanitarian crises in 54 countries, as well as in a further nine countries which have been catapulted into humanitarian need by the COVID-19 pandemic. This day was designated in memory of the 19 August 2003 bomb attack on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, killing 22 people, including the chief humanitarian in Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello. In 2009, the United Nations General Assembly formalized the day as World Humanitarian Day.

The theme of World Food Day 2021 is "our actions are our future". World Food Day celebrates the global progress made toward zero hunger and highlights the world’s commitment to ending world hunger by 2030. Celebrated annually on 16 October, World Food Day promotes global awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger, and to highlight the need to ensure healthy diets for all. Collective action across 150 countries is what makes World Food Day one of the most celebrated days of the United Nations’ calendar. Hundreds of events and outreach activities bring together governments, businesses, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), the media, and general public. They promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure healthy diets for all. #WorldFoodDay 2021 will be marked a second time while countries around the world deal with the widespread effects of the global COVID-19 pandemic. We're all fortunate enough to not have to worry about our basic needs - food, water, hygiene. Not everyone has that luxury. During this time of year where we are spending time with family and friends, buying gifts, and taking time to ourselves, let's not forget the tens of millions of children and adults around the world who do not have their basic needs met. Action Against Hunger is a non-profit global humanitarian organization that takes decisive action against the causes and effects of hunger. It saves the lives of malnourished children, ensures everyone can access clean water, food, training and healthcare, and enables entire communities to be free from hunger. Every day, millions of people around the world experience chronic hunger and food insecurity, despite the world's supply of food resources. Chronic hunger not only impacts physical health, but emotional health and growth and development, with several more far-reaching and often devastating impacts. World hunger is a symptom of several root causes, including poverty, conflict, famine, disease, natural disasters/climate change, global economics, and issues with food availability and accessibility, among others. The following organizations are working towards their shared mission of solving the global hunger crisis. These organizations provide food resources to communities in need around the world, prepare and distribute meals during times of crisis and disaster, implement sustainable food programs, and develop policies to drive food distribution and improve food accessibility worldwide.
